Zero Waste Daniel’s NYFW Pop-Up is in Full Bloom

It may be snowing in New York, but Zero Waste Daniel is blooming.

The upcycling brand unveiled an in-store concept shop at its Brooklyn flagship during New York Fashion Week in support of the zero-waste label’s latest collection.

Starting today, the Zero Waste Daniel Flower Shop at the brand’s Bushwick brick-and-mortar transports customers to a flower market—no water required. The one-of-a-kind handmade florals are available to purchase as ready-to-wear art pieces, on decorative stems or as customizable clothing accents (like headbands and brooches). Shoppers can also customize their clothes with premade textile florals as well.

“Creating my signature florals is deeply personal; taking even the tiniest fabric scraps—pieces that many would discard—and transforming them into beautiful, lasting blooms is a reflection of our ethos,” Zero Waste Daniel founder Daniel Silverstein said. “These flowers are more than just designs; they’re symbols of what sustainability and creativity can achieve together.”

Known for using pre-consumer waste from New York City’s garment industry as well as hard-to-recycle materials in his collections, Silverstein crafted each petal in the perennial arrangements using discarded scraps.

“This new concept allows customers to experience firsthand how scraps that would otherwise be discarded can become beautiful, lasting creations,” Silverstein said. “Our flowers never wilt. They stand as a testament to the potential of sustainable fashion.”

The Zero Waste Daniel Flower Shop kicked off Monday night with a preview of the market. Silverstein live-sewed floral designs for attendees, showcasing his signature upcycling process. Guests were also entertained by New York City drag performer, Suddenly Audrey, who wore a custom look inspired by “Little Shop of Horrors.”

The evening was supported in part by Manhattan Mini Storage, underscoring Zero Waste Daniel’s commitment to New York City’s communities. The Zero Waste Daniel Flower Shop will remain a semi-permanent installation at 257 Varet Street throughout the spring.
