Espacio 18 Arquitectura Casa Tobi Oaxaca Info

Perched along Oaxaca’s rugged coastline, Casa Tobi seamlessly blends architecture with nature. Designed by Espacio 18 Arquitectura, this coastal retreat embraces simplicity while reinterpreting traditional elements in a playful, fluid way. With the Pacific Ocean in front and the jungle behind, Casa Tobi offers an immersive connection to its surroundings.

The home follows the land’s natural contours. At the uppermost level, a tranquil reflecting pool welcomes visitors, mirroring the jungle and sunsets. Beyond aesthetics, it cools the social spaces below and doubles as a rainwater harvesting system.

A narrow walkway descends from the terrace, creating a sense of intimacy before unveiling a soaring, double-height communal area. Expansive openings frame sweeping ocean and hillside views, seamlessly blending the indoors with the landscape. This level features a study, kitchen, dining area, living room, pool and fire pit – spaces designed for both community and adaptability.

The lower level holds the bedrooms, where treetop views blur the lines between indoors and out. Earth-toned materials echo the region’s arid hues and subtly reference a crab’s shell, reinforcing the home’s organic integration. Scattered water features throughout evoke the cascading rock formations of Hierve el Agua, deepening the home’s connection to the landscape.
