The garments were collected through Eileen Fisher’s Renew program, which incentives consumers bring in their gently used Eileen Fisher clothing to either be recycled, cleans resole or transformed into one-of-a-kind designs. Renew has collected over two million garments since launching in 2009.
Botanical Colors was founded in 2010 by Kathy Hattori, an authority on natural dyes who has developed several commercial processes using natural dye extracts in the industrial textile environment. Eileen Fisher started working with Botanical Colors in 2014 doing small batch designs. Their first collection was in 2016, which sold at Renew’s stores in Seattle and Irvington.
Indigo Overdye Collection
Eileen Fisher partnered with the dyehouse last April for a similar collection of upcycled garments overdyed with natural indigo.
“Over the years, the collection has received incredible enthusiasm from our customers. They love the uniqueness and the rich indigo hues of each hand dyed piece. They always sell out fast. We create these collections in partnership with Botanical Colors, whose expertise in responsible natural dyeing adds incredible craftsmanship while staying true to our shared commitment to circular design and sustainability,” said Carmen Gama, Eileen Fisher director of circular design.
The new Indigo Overdye Collection retails for $155-$175
Gama added that these collections reflect Eileen Fisher’s commitment to extending the life of clothing and reducing waste. “Working in small batches allows us to prioritize quality, craftsmanship, and intentional production. Each piece is a story of renewal, thoughtfully designed, naturally dyed, and aligned with our circular values. We want to offer our customers something truly special while making a positive impact on the environment,” she said.
