Telfar Drops Unisex Stretch Denim Collection

“The skinny jean is eternal,” Telfar has decreed. “The skinny jean is infinity.”

Three years in the making, the New York City-based label released this week the first drop of a new collection called Infinity.

The name is a play on the amount of time it took the Beyoncé-beloved brand to develop the collection—from establishing an atelier to having a place to sell it—and is also a nod to how the collection was constructed.

Made with longevity in mind, each piece in the drop can be worn in a myriad of modular methods. Ribbed tanks, for example, can become tube tops and halters and skirts when worn forward, backward or upside down.

Stretch denim plays a part in the collection. The dark wash, unisex pieces, which span skinny and boot cut jeans, a maxi skirt, capri pants, a jumpsuit and jacket, are finished with contrasting white stitching.

The denim range notably fits closer to the body than Telfar’s previous denim capsule collections. Last May, the brand introduced Telfar Denim, a collection of baggy unisex jeans, shorts, skirts and jackets with modular features.

The collection also offers T-shirts with graphics that “feel pulled right out of a Canal Street tourist trap,” per the label, and “twist and turn across the body, never settling where they aught to.” The “unexpected icon” of the collection is the tank-skirt, a tank top “you wear on your legs between your legs upside down,” the Ugg collaborator said. “No one is safe from a world where this becomes acceptable.”

Telfar will roll out new categories in monthly waves. Infinity is available at Telfar’s SoHo shop and website with prices ranging from $190-$485.
